FEES – private health insurance rebates do not cover any fees for in rooms consultations or “outpatient” procedures and Medicare rebates only partially cover those costs.  In addition, private health insurance and Medicare does not fully cover Dr. Vujovic’s surgery fee for inpatient (i.e hospital) admissions.  Accordingly, in most cases, there will be a gap between the:

  • consultation fee and Medicare rebate; and
  • surgery fee and health fund rebate (or Medicare rebate for those uninsured patients).

This practice does not charge surgery fees higher than those recommended by the Australian Medical Association.  Unfortunately, modern practice expenses (including professional indemnity costs) have far outstripped the Medicare rebate, as this rebate has not been indexed against the Consumer Price Index since Medicare’s introduction in the 1980’s.

Pension and Health Care card holders may request concessional rates for consultations and if privately insured, “no gap” rates for surgery.  Presentment of a current applicable card to the reception is required to be eligible for those concessions.

Fees for anaesthetics, pathology and radiology are in addition to Dr. Vujovic’s fees as those entities issue separate invoices directly to those patients for payment.

Veterans Affairs Gold Card holders will have their invoices sent directly to the Department of Veterans Affairs for payment.

INFORMED FINANCIAL CONSENT – all patients  incurring a gap between the health fund or Medicare rebate for Dr. Vujovic’s surgery fees will receive an estimate of costs.  This will need to be signed and returned to the reception prior to surgery (via fax, email (scanned document), post or in person).

REFERRALS – an active referral from the referring doctor is required to enable patients to claim their Medicare rebate. This can be forwarded in advance by fax, post, email (scanned document) or Medical Objects via the referrer.  Please be aware that it is unlawful to back date referrals and accordingly patients are advised to check whether their referral is current prior to the consultation/procedure date.

RADIOLOGY AND PATHOLOGY – patients are requested to bring all relevant information such as X-Rays, scans, ultrasounds, FNA, core biopsy and pathology results to their appointment.
